On the 17th at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall
Pianist Park Jae-hong, who won the 2021 Peruzo Busoni International Piano Competition, will perform all five of Beethoven's piano concertos at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on the 17th.
The performance time for the five concertos alone exceeds three hours. Including two intermissions, the total duration of the concert is expected to reach four hours. It is a long journey requiring high levels of concentration and stamina.
The concert is the final stage of the 'Concerto Marathon Project,' a planned performance series launched by the production company Mast Media in September. The Concerto Marathon Project is a concept where three of Korea's leading pianists perform the piano concertos of Prokofiev, Brahms, and Beethoven for extended periods, like a marathon.
First, pianist Shin Chang-yong performed Prokofiev's piano concertos Nos. 1 to 3 on September 20th. Then, pianist Baek Hye-sun performed both of Brahms' piano concertos on November 19th.
Park Jae-hong will conclude the series by performing all five of Beethoven's piano concertos. On the day, Park will perform the concertos in order, two at a time, take an intermission, and finally perform the fifth concerto, known as the "Emperor."
Park Jae-hong gained widespread recognition when he won the Busoni Competition in Italy at the age of 22. At that time, he also swept four special awards (Chamber Music Special Award, Busoni Work Performance Award, Alice Tartarotti Award, and Keyboard Trust Award).
