Gyeonggawon Receives Grand Prize for Public-Private Startup Support Platform

The public-private collaborative startup support platform of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency received the grand prize.

On the 14th, the agency announced that its self-operated 'Gyeonggi Startup Platform (www.gsp.or.kr)' won the grand prize in the public service startup support category at the 'Web Award Korea 2023' hosted by the Korea Internet Professionals Association.

Web Award Korea is an event where experts evaluate newly developed or improved websites over the year based on visual design, UI design, technology, content, marketing, and service, selecting and awarding outstanding internet services.

The Gyeonggi Startup Platform is a platform that provides startup-related education, investment, and support project information to startups and prospective entrepreneurs in the province through mobile and web services. It began service in November 2019 as the first platform of its kind among domestic local governments.

As of December this year, the platform has registered 5,800 startup members, 8,800 prospective entrepreneurs, 146 members from 50 private investment firms, and 180 startup mentors actively participating.

Additionally, the platform selects and supports 25 promising startups through its investment linkage program. In particular, it provides prize money to outstanding IR companies selected from among them. Furthermore, it has provided 347 expert consultations in various fields such as management, technology, and manufacturing.

Kang Seong-cheon, director of the agency, emphasized, "The Gyeonggi Startup Platform is the first public-private collaborative platform among local governments that integrates and provides startup resource information in the province to facilitate startup creation and growth." He added, "We will continue to make sustained efforts to revitalize regional startups."
