POSCO Future M to Foster Battery Material Talent with Korea University

Special Lecture by President Kim Jun-hyung... Employment Briefing for Major Students

POSCO Future M announced on the 14th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea University College of Engineering for "Training specialized personnel in secondary battery materials and strengthening technological competitiveness." The signing ceremony held at the Engineering Building of Korea University Seoul Campus was attended by POSCO Future M President Kim Jun-hyung and Korea University College of Engineering Dean Lee Hae-geun, among others.


Starting from the new semester next year, the two institutions will operate the master's and doctoral battery materials program called the ‘e-Battery Track.’ Students selected for this program will complete field-oriented education through visits to POSCO Future M’s major business sites, joint research projects, and internship programs.


POSCO Future M will support students with tuition and scholarships and will hire those who complete the program as research and development and technical personnel.


Kim Jun-hyung, President of POSCO Future M, said, "It is an honor to collaborate with Korea University, which has greatly contributed to the development of engineering and technology in Korea, to nurture talents who will lead battery materials," adding, "We will actively support students to grow into top research personnel."

Following the signing ceremony, POSCO Future M held a ‘Future M Day Session’ to share information about the company and the battery materials business with graduate and undergraduate students in the master’s and doctoral programs.


President Kim gave a special lecture on POSCO Future M’s business and growth vision, as well as its corporate citizenship management philosophy. Through recruitment briefings and on-site one-on-one in-depth interviews, he also proposed growing together with the company’s eco-friendly future materials business.


To enhance competitiveness in battery materials technology and secure talent, POSCO Future M has been establishing industry-academic cooperation systems for talent development with prestigious universities, starting with POSTECH last year, followed by Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), Handong University, and others.


In addition, POSCO Future M has deployed ‘convergence-type talents’?the first in the industry to hire and nurture engineers with a humanities background?to domestic and overseas business sites. In the second half of this year’s open recruitment, the company is conducting a hiring process for ‘New Frontier’ convergence talents who, beyond their major, possess foreign language, IT, and media utilization skills to propose creative solutions.
