In particular, Hyundai Engineering & Construction ranked first among construction and engineering companies in this evaluation and became the only domestic construction company to be included in the 'DJSI World' for 14 consecutive years.

DJSI is a sustainability management evaluation index comprehensively assessing the economic performance and ESG (environment, social, governance) performance of the top 2,500 companies by market capitalization worldwide, compiled by the global financial information company Standard & Poor's (S&P) Global. The DJSI World Index consists of companies that rank in the top 10% in ESG management.

In this evaluation, Hyundai Engineering & Construction was recognized for excellent achievements such as calculating sustainable revenue based on the EU Taxonomy, obtaining approval from SBTi (an environmental and climate change initiative), conducting biodiversity risk assessments, and expanding employee welfare programs.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction is striving to strengthen its sustainability management capabilities by operating a sustainability management council that identifies and analyzes improvement areas for each department based on domestic and international ESG trends, risks, and initiatives, and reports them to the Transparent Management Committee (Board of Directors).

In July, through the '2023 Hyundai Engineering & Construction Sustainability Management Report,' the company disclosed green revenue (sustainable products) based on the EU Taxonomy standards for the first time among domestic construction companies, alongside the Korean-style green classification system.

In fact, it is expanding its eco-friendly business portfolio by showing tangible results in renewable energy and carbon neutrality sectors such as offshore wind power, hydrogen plants, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and biogas.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction became the first listed domestic construction company to declare '2045 Carbon Neutrality' and further enhanced its credibility regarding global carbon neutrality goals by obtaining SBTi approval in the third quarter of this year.

Additionally, Hyundai Engineering & Construction ranked first among domestic construction companies in the 'Building Benchmark' category, which evaluates the amount of carbon emissions during building operations and low-carbon transitions, conducted by the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA).

Moreover, it has proven various achievements in domestic and international sustainability management activities, such as being selected as the number one comprehensive construction company for three consecutive years in the 2023 Korea Standards Association Sustainability Index (KSI).

A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official stated, “As a global leader in ESG management, Hyundai Engineering & Construction pursues sustainable growth and development through systematic goal setting and implementation,” adding, “We will continue to faithfully fulfill our roles and responsibilities as a member of the international community and create a sustainable future.”
