Lotte Mart announced on the 14th that it will offer a 40% discount on all products from the “Clean Livestock Farm” line, which is free from infectious disease concerns, until the 20th. This comes in response to the increased demand for products raised in a “clean breeding environment” following recent outbreaks of infectious diseases in livestock farms.
Clean Livestock Farm products are produced from Korean beef raised on farms that have undergone strict verification of their overall breeding environment by the Livestock Environment Management Institute and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, ensuring excellent hygiene. Made from raw materials graded 1+ or higher, the quality is also outstanding. To be selected as a Clean Livestock Farm, farms must pass a total of 13 evaluation criteria, including breeding density and manure treatment processes.
Lotte Mart sought out Korean beef farms with clean breeding environments to secure these products. The company visited about 10 Korean beef farms across the Jeonbuk region and signed contracts with farms located in Iksan and Gochang, Jeonbuk. These farms meet the qualification requirements for the fattening environment set by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and were designated as Clean Livestock Farms in 2021.
Meanwhile, in addition to launching the “Clean Livestock Farm” products, Lotte Mart has been offering eco-friendly antibiotic-free Korean beef products since 2019 and currently sells over 30 items. Antibiotic-free Korean beef products are those that do not use feed containing antibiotics or antimicrobials, nor hormones such as growth promoters, and are known by consumers as safe foods, resulting in high demand.
Jeon So-eun, MD of the Livestock Team at Lotte Mart Super, said, “Due to infectious diseases occurring at some Korean beef farms this year, consumer interest in safe Korean beef that they can trust to eat is increasing. We ask for your great interest as we offer Korean beef from ‘Clean Livestock Farms,’ which are managed hygienically from raw materials to fattening environments, at reasonable prices.”
