The Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center at Seoul National University Hospital, which opened last month, is the first independent short-term care medical facility in Korea that provides short-term hospitalization and care treatment for severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients who require 24-hour care relying on machines such as ventilators. It is estimated that there are about 4,000 severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients in Korea who need such care.
The center was established to provide a safe caregiving environment for severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients even for a few days, offering their families a chance to rest and recharge. The Nexon Foundation and the Ministry of Health and Welfare joined forces to establish the center.
The donation from the fan club will be used entirely for the operation costs of the Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center to provide better services to patients with severe illnesses and their caregivers.
An Katarina, leader of Hero Era Volunteer Sharing Room Raon, said, "By participating in monthly meal service volunteering at residential facilities for children with severe disabilities, I deeply empathized with the need for caregiving support for severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients," adding, "I hope this Christmas donation, held every year-end, will provide some strength to the patients and their families."
Choi Eun-hwa, director of Seoul National University Children's Hospital, expressed gratitude, saying, "We appreciate the warm interest shown to severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients and their families," and added, "We will use the donation carefully so that the good intentions of Lim Young-woong and Hero Era Raon can be well conveyed to the patients and their families."
Meanwhile, 'Volunteer Sharing Room Raon,' which participated in the donation, is a group formed by members of Lim Young-woong's fan club Hero Era to create a desirable fandom culture and spread positive influence. They have been consistently volunteering and donating for marginalized neighbors such as residential facilities for children with severe disabilities, jjokbangchon (small room villages), Yongsan box villages, and orphanages for independent youth.
