Gangjin-gun, Singi Health Clinic Selected as 'Best Medical Institution'

A 'Great Achievement' Accomplished in Medically Underserved Areas

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jinwon) received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award as the “Best Medical Institution” at the ‘2023 Health Clinic Operation Performance Conference’ held on the 7th at the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall Convention Hall in Seoul, with the Shingi Health Clinic (Clinic Director Kim Hyeyeon) of Gangjin-gun Health Center being selected.

According to the county on the 13th, the Health Clinic Operation Performance Conference was held for the first time in three years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with about 200 participants including health clinic officials from local governments nationwide and related agency project personnel, to reward excellent institutions that have worked to improve the health of local residents and to share and spread achievements of this year.

The Shingi Health Clinic conducted a survey to alleviate itching symptoms among village residents, identified the causes, and implemented customized projects according to individual characteristics such as age, frequency of bathing, and polypharmacy status, including education on moisturizer use and dietary therapy, receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in the field of “primary medical care.”

Health clinics are institutions established to allow public health officials in charge of health care to perform minor medical acts for residents in medically vulnerable areas where there are no doctors and it is expected to be difficult to assign doctors in the future. Currently, seven such clinics are operating in Gangjin-gun.

Governor Kang Jinwon stated, “The role of health clinics, which are closest to the residents and responsible for their health, is important,” and added, “We will do our best to closely manage the health of residents through resident-friendly customized medical services in the future.”
