The 'Health-Friendly Company Certification System,' implemented since 2022, is a system that grants certification to companies that exemplary operate health-friendly systems. According to the National Health Promotion Act, companies that create a health-friendly culture and environment in the workplace and support employees to actively manage their own health are selected.
At the '2023 Health-Friendly Company Certification System Performance Conference' held on the 12th at Boco Seoul Gangnam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 27 organizations including Samsung Medical Center obtained certification. The certification is valid for three years, from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2026. Over the past three years, certification was granted after comprehensively reviewing corporate activities related to worker health, including ▲health-friendly management ▲health-friendly culture ▲health-friendly activities ▲employee satisfaction. Among the certified companies, Samsung Medical Center is the only one in the healthcare industry.
Samsung Medical Center supports health activities to create a health-friendly corporate culture linked to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), including ▲launching the ESG Committee in 2022 ▲introducing a flexible work system for nurses ▲mental health screening for all employees ▲establishing employee donation funds ▲supporting medical expenses for low-income groups ▲chemical risk assessments and office air quality measurements.
The 'Flexible Work System for Nurses,' first introduced domestically, has proven effective and served as the basis for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's pilot project in 2022. The hospital also explained that the 'Lifecycle Motivation Program' for shift nurses, including this system, has received attention.
Various programs for community contribution are also underway. The 'BlueID Campaign,' a program where employees directly donate, allows participants to choose from three support areas: medical expense support, medical volunteer and employee volunteer activity support, and research and medical environment improvement support. So far, 3,350 employees have raised 2.378 billion KRW in donations.
Since 2021, Samsung Medical Center has signed a business agreement with the Seoul Group Home Support Center and conducts weekly health education. The 'Health Check Check Challenge' for people with developmental disabilities is a program that helps them check their own health and maintain consistent healthy exercise.
Park Seung-woo, President of Samsung Medical Center, said, "Our hospital is based on the mission to 'contribute to the healthy and happy lives of humanity.' We spare no effort to ensure the happiness of our staff who make up the hospital and to grow together in harmony with the local community." He added, "We are pleased that our efforts to create a health-friendly corporate culture have been recognized with this certification and the commendation from the Korea Health Promotion Institute Director."
