The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 12th that it filed an appeal seeking a harsher sentence.

The prosecution's position is that a more severe sentence is necessary considering that the crime of false accusation is serious, the lawyer abused the state's judicial process for personal purposes which reflects poor criminal intent, a considerable amount of investigative resources were wasted, and Kang has prior convictions for similar offenses.

Lawyer Kang was prosecuted on charges of instructing Kim Mina, known as the famous blogger 'Dododam', to falsely accuse Mr. A, a head of department at a securities company, of rape causing injury in 2015, with the aim of obtaining a large settlement.

The prosecution sought a one-year prison sentence, but the Seoul Central District Court on the 6th sentenced him to six months in prison with a two-year suspension.

Mr. A, who was falsely accused, was cleared of charges by the investigative authorities.
