On the 14th at Jeonil Building... Competition Format Based on Original Compositions
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 12th that it will hold the "2023 Gwangju 245 Song Festival, Memories of the Jeonil Broadcasting College Song Festival" at Jeonil Building 245 on the 14th.
The event is hosted by the Dong-gu Culture and Tourism Foundation and organized by the Jeonil Life Culture Center.
This song festival was prepared to inherit the spatial historicity of "Jeonil Building 245," where the Jeonil Life Culture Center is located, and to revitalize local popular music by re-examining songs that won awards at the "Jeonil Broadcasting College Song Festival (1978?1980)."
For the past two years, the Jeonil Life Culture Center has held a competition-style song festival based on original compositions to inspire the creative motivation of Gwangju’s popular musicians.
This year, marking the 45th anniversary of the Jeonil Broadcasting College Song Festival, the event features performances where the original artists sing songs that were nationwide hits 45 years ago.
The performance will feature composer Park Cheol-hong of "Momo," the grand prize winner of the 1st Jeonil Broadcasting College Song Festival; Kim Jong-ryul, famous as the composer of "March for the Beloved," who won the grand prize in the 2nd festival with "Sonagi"; and singer Ha Seong-gwan, who won the grand prize in the 3rd festival with "Bing Bing Bing."
Additionally, "Memories of Songbakang" (2nd festival silver prize) and "Cheonhadaejanggun Jihayeojanggun" (3rd festival silver prize) will be presented in a new light through modern interpretations by Kim Jeong-sik, Lee Mi-rang, and the Park Seong-eon Band.
The Gwangju 245 Song Festival will take place on the 14th at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose auditorium on the 9th floor of Jeonil Building 245, Geumnamno 1-ga. Any interested residents can attend free of charge. For more details, please contact the Jeonil Life Culture Center.
