'Technology and Design in the Posthuman Era'
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) Asia Future Design Institute, the Graduate School's Department of Design and Department of Visual Contents, and the 4th phase BK21 will hold the Autumn International Academic Conference on the 14th and 15th at Dongseo University UIT International Seminar Room. The conference, themed "Technology and Design in the Posthuman Era," invites experts actively working both domestically and internationally to share discourse on the meeting and evolution of big data-based technology and design following the development of artificial intelligence.

The keynote speaker of this Autumn International Academic Conference is Professor Choi Soo-shin, Chair of the Department of Industrial Design at Savannah College of Art and Design. Under the theme "Humanity: The Reason Designers Exist," she will discuss the essence of design that makes human life meaningful within a technological ecological space in the AI era and the value ethics of designers.
In the first forum, Associate Professor Geol Jing from Beijing Film Academy in China will speak on "Expertise and Creativity in Animation Production." The second forum features Associate Professor Kudo Tatsuro from Kurume Institute of Technology in Japan, who will lecture on "The Evolution of XR and Video Generation Technology." The third forum will have Lee Dong-gyu, CEO of Meracle, sharing insights on "Business Models and the Role of Design in the Digital Transformation Era."
This Autumn International Academic Conference will newly include sessions titled "Public Design Talk 2023" and "DCC Talk 2023."
First, "Public Design Talk 2023" is organized with the support of Busan City to share ideas and inspiration for imagining a better world by solving individual and social problems through various cases and aiming for a sustainable Busan.
The first speaker is Na-eun Shin, Strategy Director of Site Planning, who will lecture on the theme "15-Minute City Busan Basic Concept."
Next, "DCC Talk 2023" is an open forum where any member of Dongseo University can participate. The session name is an abbreviation for Dongseo Cultural Contents, providing a platform for people passionate about ongoing research, work, or production of creative works to speak.
The first speakers are Kim Hyo-jung, a senior researcher at the Asia Future Design Institute of Dongseo University, and Wang Yuanxue, a doctoral student in the Graduate School's Department of Visual Contents.
Additionally, the Graduate School's Department of Design will host "Open Critique," sharing diverse research outcomes from 24 master's and doctoral researchers from the 8th to the 14th. On the evening of the 14th, "Night of Communication" will be held to share graduate students' research life and international students' experiences.
On the morning of the 15th, "Course Spotlight" will take place, sharing the results of the "Industrial Design Empirical Case Study" class taught by Professor Kim Hyung-woo of the College of Design. In the afternoon, the Graduate School's Department of Design and Department of Visual Contents will host the Dongseo University Graduate School Colloquium, followed by the awards ceremony for the "SDGs Design International Awards 2023."
Jang Ju-young, Director of the Asia Future Design Institute, said, "Through this academic conference, I hope it will be a valuable time for students and researchers in the fields of design and visual contents to contemplate together the various questions and challenges regarding the advent of the posthuman era and the great technological transformation."
