aT to Purchase 5,000 Tons of Baechu and 3,000 Tons of Radish to Support Producer Prices

Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on the 14th that it will purchase 5,000 tons of napa cabbage and 3,000 tons of radish as part of its price support policy for producing farms.

Winter napa cabbage production is expected to exceed the average by 24,000 tons due to the recovery of weather conditions in major producing areas. Winter radish production is also projected to increase by 18.7% compared to last year, exceeding 57,000 tons, necessitating supply and demand adjustment.

aT stated that through this purchase, the introduction of plastic box storage for napa cabbage will improve storability, enabling the supply of higher quality stockpiles to the market and processing companies. In particular, radish will see the first introduction of bulk bag (also known as ton bag) packaging, aiming to achieve both rapid market isolation through logistics efficiency and increased usability for processing. aT added that the stockpiled quantities will be utilized to prepare for supply and demand instability that may occur due to cold waves in winter.

Moon In-cheol, aT's Director of Supply and Demand, said, “Government purchase and stockpiling are important policies that satisfy both farmers and consumers,” and added, “We will do our best to stabilize prices and support farm incomes.”
