Busan Seo-gu and Dong-gu Candidacy Declaration
"YS Eliminated Hanahoe... Must Clear Leftover Movement Faction"
Kim In-gyu, former administrative officer of the Political Affairs Office at the Presidential Office and grandson of former President Kim Young-sam (YS), has declared his candidacy for the Busan Seo-gu and Dong-gu districts in next year's general election.
On the 11th, Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly and stated, "I want to run in Busan for the 22nd National Assembly election not as the grandson of President Kim Young-sam, but as politician Kim In-gyu." Busan Seo-gu and Dong-gu is the constituency where former President Kim served seven terms, and the current incumbent is Ahn Byung-gil of the People Power Party.
Kim recently mentioned the popular film Spring in Seoul and recalled former President Kim. He said, "YS was the protagonist who eradicated the Hanahoe and punished the leaders of the military rebellion," adding, "The People Power Party, inheriting the will of Geosan, is the party that continues the mainstream of democratization in the Republic of Korea."

He continued, "While thinking of my grandfather who fought desperately to open the 'spring of democratization' against military dictatorship, I felt sorry for our party’s inability to stand up firmly against the opposition party that likens it to 'prosecutor dictatorship.'"
Kim criticized the Democratic Party, saying, "The current Democratic Party has lost morality and diversity, and democracy is being suppressed in reality," and added, "They are driving the minority ruling party into impeachment and special investigation politics and abusing the power of the majority party."
He also said, "The Democratic Party, which believes it is natural to maintain power out of complacency because it once played a role in democratization, and the core 386 generation, are the outdated forces that should disappear from this country," and questioned, "Who is truly dictating and delaying the 'spring of the Republic of Korea'?"
He then pledged, "I will open the true spring of political history in the Republic of Korea amid a political landscape stained with conflict and discord," and added, "Having prepared both legislative experience as a National Assembly aide and executive experience as an administrative officer at the Presidential Office, I will prove to the citizens of Busan that I am a capable talent."
Specifically, he proposed pledges such as completing the redevelopment of the North Port, undergrounding the railway, and lifting height restrictions in the old downtown area.
Kim served as a youth aide supporting Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, and after working in the secretariat of the transition committee, he recently worked as an administrative officer in the Political Affairs Office at the Presidential Office.
