Gurye-gun Hosts Lifelong Learning Expo

Held time to share achievements including proclamation ceremony, club performances, and experiential activities

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Sun-ho) announced that it held the 1st Gurye-gun Lifelong Learning Expo at the Gurye-gun Indoor Gymnasium on the 9th.

This event was organized to commemorate Gurye-gun's designation as a lifelong learning city this year, share the vision and values as a lifelong learning city where "anyone can enjoy learning anytime, anywhere," and to present the achievements of lifelong learning activities over the past year.

The event was divided into two parts. The first part included an opening ceremony, a proclamation ceremony, and awards presented to three individuals who contributed to the promotion of lifelong learning.

In the second part, performances by participants of lifelong learning clubs, including four teams such as Ukulele and G Ensemble, received great responses. Additionally, lifelong learning centers in eight towns and townships shared lifelong learning programs through performances showcasing talents and skills developed through learning.

Moreover, eight experiential programs were operated, including pressed flower and pottery experiences, woodworking and knot craft experiences, and world play culture experiences, providing meaningful activities linked to lifelong learning.

Since being newly designated as a lifelong learning city in 2023, Gurye-gun has promoted various lifelong education initiatives, producing 57 activists including adult literacy instructors, eco leaders, and village education coordinators. It also implemented customized lifelong learning programs for about 900 residents, including village education, digital literacy education, and informatization education.

Kim Sun-ho, Governor of Gurye-gun, said, "Gurye-gun will provide various lifelong education opportunities to its residents as a lifelong learning city. We will strive harder to create a lifelong learning city that grows together with its citizens and a global lifelong learning city toward the future."
