Last year, LG Household & Health Care was selected as the world’s number one in the personal products sector, which mostly includes global cosmetics and household goods companies such as Unilever, Est?e Lauder, Shiseido, and Kao, becoming the first in the domestic cosmetics and household goods industry to achieve this and proving its top-level status within the global industry.
In the recent evaluation results announced by S&P Global, LG Household & Health Care ranked among the top in the personal products sector by industry and succeeded in being included in the DJSI World index. As a result, LG Household & Health Care has entered the DJSI World index for six consecutive years this year, the Asia-Pacific index for 14 consecutive years, and the Korea index for 11 consecutive years.
The DJSI evaluation items consist of common categories such as governance, ethical management, climate change response, human capital development, product responsibility, and industry-specific categories. These items are revised annually considering the importance of ESG issues and the need for industry-specific evaluations. This year, evaluation items such as taxonomy (classification system for sustainable economic activities), materiality assessment, risk and crisis management, supply chain management, and biodiversity were significantly revised.
Among these, LG Household & Health Care received higher scores than competitors in key areas such as climate change response, sustainable eco-friendly products, human rights management, supply chain management, biodiversity activities, and risk crisis management.
Namsoo Choi, Executive Director of ESG and External Cooperation at LG Household & Health Care, said, “Despite the challenging business environment, LG Household & Health Care, as a global company, has continuously strived for sustainable growth by not stopping its efforts to improve the Environment (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) areas.” He added, “Based on mid- to long-term plans and execution tasks by area, we will continue to carry out future-oriented ESG management activities.”
