Many divorced singles (돌싱, dolsing) hesitate to remarry because men worry that their partner might have a "freeloader mentality," while women fear they will have to "take care of all the chores" for their partner.

On the 11th, remarriage information company Only-U, in collaboration with marriage agency Bienarae, announced the results of a survey conducted from the 4th to the 9th of this month involving 516 men and women nationwide who hope to remarry (258 men and 258 women each).


When asked, "What factors make you hesitate to decide on remarriage?" 32.2% of male respondents answered "worried about a freeloader mentality," while 31.0% of female respondents answered "worried about having to take care of all the chores," making these the most common concerns for each gender.


Following that, men answered in order: ▲"worried they will only claim rights without responsibility" (29.5%) ▲"worried about meeting a scammer" (18.2%) ▲"worried about meeting a conservative woman" (13.9%).


For women, the order was ▲"worried about meeting a scammer" (28.3%) ▲"worried about meeting a conservative man" (19.0%) ▲"worried they will only claim rights without responsibility" (14.7%).

When asked about "factors considered much more when choosing a remarriage partner compared to the first marriage," men selected "self-management status (28.7%)" and "financial awareness (26.0%)" as their top two, while women chose "preparation for old age (34.1%)" and "generosity (25.2%)."


Both men and women answered "respect for the partner (men 19.0%, women 17.4%)" as the third most important factor, while the fourth was "preparation for old age (18.2%)" for men and "self-management status (15.1%)" for women.


When asked, "What qualities in a remarriage matchmaking partner increase your liking the more you talk?" men answered "bright expression (28.7%)," and women answered "broad knowledge (27.5%)."


Men also answered ▲"habit of giving compliments (24.7%)" ▲"humble attitude (22.1%)" ▲"broad knowledge (16.7%)," while women answered ▲"habit of giving compliments (25.3%)" ▲"bright expression (21.3%)" ▲"quick wit (17.4%)."


Son Dong-gyu, CEO of Only-U, advised, "When remarrying, it is important to thoroughly verify your partner, but there is no need to view them through overly negative lenses. Since both men and women tend to distrust the opposite sex in the remarriage market, it is essential to build trust with your partner and enhance your own attractiveness to offset any negative perceptions."
