SK On, First in Battery Industry to Receive Ministerial Award for Information Security Industry Development

Awarded Commendation as an Outstanding Company in Information Security Disclosure

SK On announced on the 10th that it has received the Minister of Science and ICT Award in the field of information security disclosure, the first in the battery industry. The company was recognized for its contribution to the development of the information security industry in the battery sector, which has been designated as a national core technology.


On the 6th, SK On was selected as an outstanding company in information security disclosure and received a commendation at the ‘Information Security Industry Night’ event held at the 63 Convention Center in Yeouido, Seoul.


Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Information Security Industry Association, this event was designed to highlight the importance of the information security industry and encourage cooperation and growth within the industry.


Among the ‘2023 Outstanding Disclosure Companies,’ three companies including SK On, Samsung SDS, and Genie Music were selected from a total of 713 companies and institutions that conducted disclosures this year. SK On has voluntarily disclosed its security status to stakeholders through information security disclosures managed by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

SK On has established an information security management system by acquiring and renewing international information security and personal information protection management system certifications (ISO27001 & 27701), and has enhanced its internal capabilities by expanding investments and dedicated personnel in the security field.


Additionally, SK On has carried out various activities to promote information security practices among its members, including online and offline security training and ‘malicious email simulation drills.’ This year, the online information security training completion rate among SK On employees reached 99.4%. Regular training is crucial as the company handles national core technologies.


Jonghee Park, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of SK On, stated, "In the battery industry where global competition is intensifying, information security will be a key driver for mid- to long-term growth. Going forward, SK On plans to significantly strengthen its security capabilities to protect its core internal competitiveness and contribute to the development of the information security industry."
