"Disregarding People's Lives for Political Intentions"
Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, urged "Former President Moon Jae-in to sincerely address the incident and formally apologize to the bereaved families" in relation to the final audit results by the Board of Audit and Inspection, which found that the Moon Jae-in administration neglected the situation during the 'West Sea Public Official Killing Incident' in September 2020 and concealed and distorted related facts.
On the 8th, Ahn posted on his social media (SNS), saying "The Moon Jae-in government knew about Lee Dae-jun, a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official, drifting for 38 hours but neglected him, and after the killing, issued security maintenance guidelines and attempted false concealment by claiming uncertainty or that floating debris was burned, which is shocking beyond words."

He added, "Moreover, to cover up the incident, secret documents were deleted, and there is even evidence that they tried to frame it as a 'voluntary defection to the North' based on inaccurate grounds," and asked, "Why on earth did the Moon Jae-in government do this? What exactly were they trying to hide?"
He continued, "That night at the United Nations General Assembly, there was a pre-recorded broadcast of former President Moon's 'Korean Peninsula End-of-War Declaration' speech," and noted, "Our people also remember that former President Moon was desperate to revive the already faded peace show with Kim Jong-un."
He then sharply questioned, "In the end, did the president's 'end-of-war declaration' cause him to turn a blind eye even to the atrocity of our citizens dying at the hands of North Korea?" and asked, "Was the peace show between the South and North more important than the lives of our people?"
Regarding former President Moon's reaction to the Board of Audit and Inspection's written investigation request, calling it "a very rude act," Ahn criticized, "Is that something a government official responsible for the lives of the people, who treated them carelessly for political purposes, should say?"
He emphasized, "The people are still asking former President Moon why, despite the drifting being reported three hours before the killing, no action was taken; why, after witnessing the horrific atrocity, he did not attend the late-night emergency meeting and just slept; and whether he was aware of and tolerated the concealment and manipulation circumstances, and they are hoping for truthful answers."
