Dobong-gu Selects 106 'Our Village Carbon Neutral Practice Stores'

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok), together with the 'Dobong-gu Carbon Neutrality Action Group,' selected 106 neighborhood retail stores leading energy-saving efforts as 'Our Neighborhood Carbon Neutrality Practice Stores.'

The selected stores were provided with energy-saving supplies such as sunshades and knee blankets, and their store names were publicly listed on the Dobong-gu website as a benefit.

Earlier, in preparation for the summer season when energy consumption surges, the action group, composed of environmental organization members, conducted three rounds of inspections from June to October targeting about 500 neighborhood retail stores including convenience stores, laundries, and general stores.

The main inspection items included ▲whether air conditioning was operated with doors open ▲whether indoor temperature settings were appropriately maintained between 26~28℃ ▲participation in the 'Dobong-gu Residents' Pledge to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 4 Tons per Person' campaign ▲membership registration for Carbon Zero Mileage ▲and membership registration for Eco Mileage.

Based on the inspection results, the private-public evaluation committee reviewed the candidates, and in November, 106 energy-saving outstanding retail stores were finally selected as 'Our Neighborhood Carbon Neutrality Practice Stores.'

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “To achieve carbon neutrality, it is essential to recognize the necessity of carbon neutrality and to actively practice it as a result. We will continue to promote energy saving among all residents, including retail stores, through projects such as selecting 'Our Neighborhood Carbon Neutrality Practice Stores.'”
