Imsil-gun to Launch 'Cheese Bungeoppang' at Okjeongho on the 9th

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 7th that it will launch Bungeoppang, a fish-shaped pastry that many tourists visiting Bogeum Island, a treasure island of Jeollabuk-do and a rapidly emerging representative tourist destination, had longed for.

Bogeum Island, named because it resembles a goldfish when viewed from afar, has been gaining popularity along with the opening of the suspension bridge. The regionally specialized food, Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang, which captivates tourists' taste buds, will make its debut on the 9th.

Sold at Imsil N Cheese House Okjeongho Branch located at the entrance of the Okjeongho suspension bridge, Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang features a sweet and savory taste and crispiness made with healthy ingredients such as Imsil N Cheese, Korea's original cheese brand, organic domestic wheat, organic brown sugar, and butter.

In particular, Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang is enhanced with the umami and savory flavors by using mozzarella cheese produced in Imsil, 6-month aged Gouda cheese, and domestically produced red beans.

Moreover, this product was developed through research by the Imsil Cheese and Food Research Institute Foundation, which leads the development of the Imsil cheese industry, making it a trustworthy and safe food item.

The dough uses a differentiated recipe from regular Bungeoppang, characterized by maintaining a crispy texture even when cooled. This special recipe is planned to be patented.

The price is set at 1,500 KRW per piece, considering the cost of high-quality Gouda cheese, mozzarella cheese, and organic ingredients, while also taking into account the affordability for tourists.

Currently, in addition to snacks available at Okjeongho such as grilled cheese and Imsil cheese pizza, the newly introduced special Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang is expected to broaden tourists' choices and gain great popularity.

It is anticipated that this will not only provide customized food options matching the special sights for tourists visiting Bogeum Island at Okjeongho but also increase the number of tourists visiting Bogeum Island specifically to enjoy Bungeoppang.

The county also plans to showcase Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang to tourists at the Santa Festival held at Imsil Cheese Theme Park from the 23rd to the 25th.

County Governor Shim Min said, “Many tourists who have visited Bogeum Island at Okjeongho have been looking for Bungeoppang, and we have finally succeeded in developing it ourselves. We expect that Imsil N Cheese Bungeoppang, made with high-quality Imsil cheese, will captivate many tourists' taste buds.”

Meanwhile, the Okjeongho suspension bridge will be closed for two months from January to February next year. The county plans to address various inconveniences and improve infrastructure during the closure period.
