Photo Exhibition of Memorial Parks Around the World Held at Pohang City Hall Solar Gallery

Exhibition of 40 Photos and Promotional Materials of Memorial Parks in Asia, Europe, and America

Pohang City will hold a photo exhibition of memorial parks around the world from the 8th to the 22nd at the Solar Gallery on the 2nd floor of City Hall.

This exhibition is organized to showcase Pohang City's differentiated funeral culture compared to memorial parks worldwide and to promote the necessity and characteristics of Pohang City's memorial park.

By displaying various promotional materials and photos of memorial parks from 40 regions around the world, including Asia, Europe, and America, it is expected to be an opportunity to present unique and creative spaces that embody the history, culture, industry, and environment of the world.

Visitors can view photos of various distinctive memorial parks from different countries, including the LA Forest Lawn-Glendale park where world-famous actress Marilyn Monroe, singer Michael Jackson, and renowned actress Elizabeth Taylor are interred, as well as promotional materials including the conceptual design of Pohang City's memorial park.

Choi Myunghwan, Director of the Welfare Bureau, said, “I hope this exhibition will serve as an opportunity for citizens to deeply understand funeral culture and convey a message to cherish life, aiming to develop a premium funeral culture park visited by many tourists, like the Holocaust Memorial designed by world-renowned architect Peter Eisenman.”

Pohang City's memorial park plans to allocate 80% of the entire site to a park project that offers a healing space where the meaning of life can be rediscovered, coexisting with culture, arts, humanities, history, and the spirit of loyalty and filial piety. The remaining 20% will be composed of spaces for funerals, cremation, enshrinement, and memorials to comfort the pain of citizens.
