Achievements Revealed in Making Haenam a Better Place to Have and Raise Children
The second child of Lee Hyung-min and Shim Eun-jung, a couple from Galdu Village, Bukil-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, was born.
For the first time in 10 years, the sound of a baby crying was heard in the village, and banners celebrating the birth of the child were hung throughout the village. The child born in Galdu Village 10 years ago is also the first son of the couple Lee Hyung-min and Shim Eun-jung.
The joy of a child's birth heard after a full 10 years is a celebration not only for the villagers but for the entire Bukil-myeon. Bukil-myeon has had no news of births for the past two years, making this birth even more meaningful.

As of the end of November this year, 248 children have been born in Haenam-gun. This number has already surpassed last year's total births of 216.
This is analyzed as a gradual result of the comprehensive reorganization of childbirth policies under the 8th local government administration, which set up customized projects for each stage of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, and provided meticulous support.
Haenam-gun has been promoting the provision of one-stop services from pregnancy to childbirth and childcare as a key administrative task to make Haenam a good place to have and raise children.
Since 2013, Haenam-gun has ranked first nationwide in total fertility rate for seven consecutive years, and in 2015, it opened the first public postpartum care center in Jeollanam-do, introducing advanced childbirth policies that have attracted national attention.
This year, the Family Harmony Center was opened to strengthen childcare functions, housing a public daycare center, a toy library, and a care center. Additionally, through the establishment of a scholarship fund of 50 billion won, remarkable achievements have been made in laying the foundation for childcare and education.
On the 7th, County Governor Myung Hyun-gwan visited a family with a newborn, delivering congratulatory gifts such as beef and seaweed, sharing in the joy of the celebration.
Governor Myung Hyun-gwan urged the couple to raise their child healthily and stated, “We will continue to implement warm policies so that the children born in Haenam can grow up healthy, striving to make Haenam-gun a better place to have and raise children.”
