SK Telecom carried out an organizational restructuring and executive appointments on the 7th, focusing on strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI) competitiveness.
First, to support the strategy for advancing as a global AI company, a four-division system was established. The four divisions are ▲ AI Service Division ▲ Global/AI Tech Division ▲ T-B Customer Division ▲ T-B Enterprise Division.

The AI Service Division and Global/AI Tech Division will collaborate to develop personal AI assistant services and telecommunications-specialized large language models (LLMs). They will also support the digital transformation of existing core businesses such as wired and wireless communications, media, and enterprise.
The T-B Customer Division and T-B Enterprise Division will actively introduce AI across all business areas including wired and wireless communications, media, and enterprise to discover new growth opportunities. In particular, they plan to strengthen synergy through the T-B one-body system between SK Telecom and SK Broadband.
To actively promote AI solution business in the global market, a dedicated organization has been newly established. The 'Global Solution Office' will consolidate internal capabilities related to AI solutions such as AI data centers, UAM, AI semiconductors, Quantum, and Excalibur, and will pursue business expansion tailored to the global market.
Additionally, a strategy development department has been established to link company-wide management strategy and brand strategy functions with growth businesses such as subscription (T Universe), metaverse, Web3, messaging, and advertising, thereby strengthening the driving force for future growth businesses.
A new 'External Cooperation Officer' position has been created to oversee ESG, CR, and PR functions, supporting AI and global business expansion alongside existing businesses. The aim is to establish AI governance and enhance PR capabilities in the global environment.
Furthermore, through the 2024 executive appointments, 16 new executives have been appointed. SKT stated that the new executives were selected for their proven capabilities and leadership necessary to enhance the execution of AI strategies.
SKT President Yoo Young-sang said, "This organizational restructuring and executive appointments focused on establishing the most effective organizational structure for executing company strategies, while reorganizing leadership centered on talent with verified global and AI capabilities and expertise."
