Korean Tour Final Winner Shin Sang-hoon 'Enlists for Military Service'

Enlistment at Nonsan Army Training Center, Chungnam on the 11th
18 months of military service, scheduled discharge in June 2025
Sriksontour winners Kim Sugyeom and Kim Geuntae also enlist

Shin Sang-hoon, the winner of the final event of the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour, is enlisting in the military.

Shin Sang-hoon will enter the Army Training Center in Nonsan, Chungnam on the 11th and serve in the military for about 18 months, with discharge scheduled for June 10, 2025. He is a player who won two titles on the Srixon (2nd division) Tour in 2019 and debuted on the Korean Tour in 2020. He claimed his first career victory at the 2021 major KPGA Championship, and on the 12th of last month, he won the season finale LG Signature Players Championship after a three-hole playoff against Lee Jae-kyung and Jeon Seong-hyun.


Shin Sang-hoon said, "I think I have worked hard on the tour for four years. Looking back, there were joyful and happy moments as well as some regrets." He added, "The most important thing is to complete my military service without injury. I also want to take time to reflect on myself and organize what I have learned, experienced, and felt on the tour." He continued, "I will focus on weight training and physical conditioning. I will return without injury." Kim Su-gyeom and Kim Geun-tae, winners of this year's Srixon Tour, will also enlist.
