For Large Cargo and Construction Machinery
Operation Suspension and Fines for Violations
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Nogwan-gyu) announced that it will conduct intensive crackdowns on commercial vehicles illegally parked overnight outside their garages to resolve citizen inconveniences and establish traffic order.
The crackdown targets commercial freight vehicles (over 1.5 tons) and construction machinery that violate garage regulations by parking overnight (parking for more than one hour between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM). Violating vehicles will face suspension of operation (up to 5 days) or fines (up to 200,000 KRW).
Since February, the city has organized two inspection teams to continuously educate and conduct surprise crackdowns, focusing on areas with many complaints and densely populated residential areas.
However, illegal parking of large vehicles frequently occurs on side streets near apartment complexes and parks, leading to complaints about accident risks, traffic inconvenience, parking difficulties, noise, and pollution.
An official from the city’s Traffic Management Division stated, “We will continue to crack down on illegal overnight parking of commercial vehicles and ask for the active cooperation of freight owners to prevent safety accidents and alleviate citizen inconveniences.”
Meanwhile, this year, the city detected 3,545 cases of overnight parking violations of commercial vehicles outside garages and provided guidance, with administrative actions taken against 77 cases.
