Received a Free Adoption from a Cafe for Stray Cats
"Failed Real Estate Investment... To Relieve Stress"
A man in his 20s who killed about 20 cats he had adopted to relieve stress from a failed real estate investment was arrested by the police.
The Ulsan Bukbu Police Station announced on the 6th that they are investigating a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.
A is suspected of receiving 24 kittens for free through an internet cafe related to stray cats from May to August and killing them all.
At the time, A reportedly avoided suspicion by disposing of the cat corpses in designated waste bags or abandoning them by throwing them near the highway.
However, A's crime was uncovered when members of the stray cat cafe contacted him to check on the cats' well-being. When A frequently failed to respond properly about the cats' condition or avoided contact altogether, some members found this suspicious and confronted him.
Eventually, A confessed part of the crime to the members, who then reported him to the police, leading to his arrest.
A is said to have committed these crimes to relieve stress caused by his failed real estate investment. The police plan to investigate A's mobile phone, PC, and other devices to ascertain the detailed circumstances of the case before sending it to the prosecution.
