Outstanding Distance and Direction in Comeback Match
Maximum 370 Yards, Fairway Landing Rate 65.38%
Next Year’s Release Product, Overwhelming Moment of Inertia Performance
‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) made a successful comeback. He finished 18th out of 20 players at the Hero World Challenge, a ‘special event’ on the PGA Tour, held at Albany Golf Course in New Providence, Bahamas, which ended on the 3rd. It was his first tournament in seven months since withdrawing from the Masters in April, and he demonstrated stable skills over four days.

Above all, his tee shots were impressive. He averaged 304.90 yards (8th place). On the 15th hole (par 5) of the second round, he showed power by hitting a maximum of 370 yards (7th place). His fairway hit rate was 65.38% (tied for 12th). Considering this was a comeback after ankle surgery, his performance was commendable. Woods changed his driver. At the Masters, he used a TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver.
However, at the Hero World Challenge, he carried the new TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver in his caddie bag. It has a 9.5-degree loft and a Graphite Design Tour AD-VF shaft. The Qi10 LS driver was added to the USGA conforming club list last month. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Tommy Fleetwood (England) recently used it at the DP World Tour season finale, the Tour Championship. It is a line not yet officially released.
There is still no detailed information about the Qi10 LS driver. The main material is carbon. The sole is marked ‘Carbonwood.’ A sliding weight is attached behind the speed pocket slot at the bottom of the head. It allows changing the ball flight. Its greatest strength is the moment of inertia (MOI), which is resistance to twisting of the head. Clubs with high MOI provide directional stability and fast speed even on off-center hits. This is the secret behind Woods achieving both distance and accuracy.
