Minister Park Min-sik, Subject to Cabinet Reshuffle
"Lived in Bundang for Over 20 Years... Have a Reason to Run"
Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Min-sik announced on the 6th that he hopes to run in the Bundang-eul district of Seongnam City in next year's general election. He said, "I ran in Bundang before but yielded when Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo came. So I have a legitimate reason to run in Bundang."
On the same day, Minister Park stated on BBS Radio's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' "Last time (in the June 2022 by-election), I received approval from the party leadership to move my constituency from Busan to Bundang and ran. I ran but then yielded to Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo." he added.
Minister Park was included in the cabinet reshuffle announced on the 4th and is preparing to run in next year's general election. He had declared his candidacy for the Bundang-gap by-election held in June last year, but withdrew due to the strategic nomination involving Assemblyman Ahn, who was then the chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee.
Regarding the Bundang area, Minister Park emphasized his ties, saying, "I have lived here for over 20 years." However, he added, "Above all, the party will deliberate extensively for victory in the general election, and I believe the best decision will be made through a fair nomination process." He stated, "Personal will is important, but I think it must align with the party's overall general election strategy."
When asked about the possibility of being asked to run in a difficult district, he said, "If it is necessary to protect and successfully lead the Yoon Seok-youl administration, anyone should take on that role."
