Olympic Hall Reopening Ceremony... Minister Yoonchon and Others Attend

Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attended the reopening ceremony of the Olympic Hall in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 6th to support the new start of South Korea's sports organizations. Built in 1986, the Olympic Hall is a sports heritage site that was used as the office of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee. After the Olympics, sports organizations such as the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee used it as office facilities.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation renovated the main building to preserve the historical significance of the Olympic Hall while bringing together the sports organizations that had been scattered inside and outside. To secure additional office space, it was decided to build an annex. The project, which began in 2015, faced difficulties such as extended duration due to cultural heritage investigations but was completed last month.

The integrated complex consists of a 14-story main building and a 4-story annex. The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Korean Paralympic Committee, sixty-one sports federations, and other sports organizations are expected to complete their move-in by the end of this month. Minister Yoo said, "Now that the distance between South Korea's representative sports organizations and related institutions has been shortened, I hope they communicate like one family and put their heads together for the development of sports."
