Dried Noodle & HMR Brand 'Cutique' Awarded
Samyang Foods announced on the 6th that it won the Grand Prize and Packstar Award in the general category at the '2023 32nd Korea Package Design Awards.'
The Korea Package Design Awards is a leading domestic design award hosted by the Korea Package Design Association and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The awards ceremony was held on the 30th at Doseong Paper Gallery in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
At this year's Korea Design Awards, Samyang Foods submitted the dried noodle and HMR (Home Meal Replacement) brand ‘COOTIQ’, the export-only brand ‘Picantia’, and Korea’s first ramen snack brand ‘Byulppoppai’, winning the Grand Prize and Packstar Awards respectively.
COOTIQ, which won the Grand Prize, is a brand that appeals to special tastes and experiences under the slogan "COOK THE UNIQUE." The Q shape, inspired by parentheses, implies containing a special experience, and it established COOTIQ’s stylish identity with a differentiated color system and sizzle expression not seen in the typical ramen category.
Picantia and Byulppoppai received the Packstar Awards. Picantia is a brand targeting Hispanics, emphasizing its identity by developing a chili head character symbol. The packaging features vibrant Mexican colors and raw material pattern graphics. Byulppoppai, the original ramen snack loved for over 50 years since 1972, reinterpreted the symbol of Popeye’s 'strength' with two star candy characters, Nyamnyami and Yamyang, showing a story of tug-of-war on the two packages.
Lee Soo-kyung, head of the design team at Samyang Foods, said, "The part where we tried to embody the differentiated value of the brand seems to have led to good results," adding, "We will continue to strive to communicate with consumers through innovative designs that embody the brand philosophy."
