Gangnam Unni Expands Global Business... Launches Platform 'Unni' for Foreign Patients

Providing Price Information and 1.3 Million Reviews for Foreign Patients Visiting Korean Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Clinics
Automatic Translation in 13 Languages During Chat Consultations with Hospitals

Healing Paper, the operator of the beauty medical information platform 'Gangnam Unni' (CEO Hong Seung-il), announced on the 6th that it has launched 'Unni (UNNI)', a platform for attracting foreign patients to Korean dermatology and plastic surgery clinics.

The Unni service provides global users with price information and 1.3 million consumer reviews of Korean dermatology and plastic surgery clinics. The Unni app can be downloaded anywhere in the world and used in English. If users wish to consult or make reservations at a hospital of interest, chat consultations with the hospital are available, and the consultations are automatically translated into 13 languages supported by the Papago translation system, including Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese. In the future, the range of supported languages will be expanded to include medical information such as reviews of Korean hospitals.

Gangnam Unni Expands Global Business... Launches Platform 'Unni' for Foreign Patients

The Unni service was launched to address the information imbalance between domestic beauty medical clinics and foreign patients. In the past, foreign patients had to rely on illegal brokers because they could not find accurate price information and genuine reviews of Korean dermatology and plastic surgery clinics. The Korean medical information provided by the Unni service is based on the medical information verification capabilities accumulated by Gangnam Unni since 2015 through artificial intelligence (AI) technology, a medical advertising review team, and a 100% monitoring policy of visiting users. Domestic hospitals can now attract foreign patients through the Unni service. Currently, 1,800 Korean hospitals are registered with Gangnam Unni, and among them, medical institutions wishing to advertise overseas and attract foreign patients can participate.

Gangnam Unni, which already expanded to Japan in November 2019, has 1,400 registered hospitals in Japan. It provides Japanese users with beauty medical information and reviews from both Korea and Japan. As of December last year, the number of Japanese users doubled compared to the same period the previous year, reaching 700,000 registered users. More than 10% of the total 5.5 million Gangnam Unni users are Japanese. Through this global business expansion, Healing Paper will simultaneously operate the Korean Gangnam Unni, Japanese Gangnam Unni, and the global country-specific Unni (UNNI) services.

Hong Seung-il, CEO of Healing Paper, said, "Korean beauty medical care has become globally competitive with high-quality medical infrastructure and technology due to worldwide demand. We will do our best to enhance the right to know for domestic and international medical consumers and promote Korean beauty medical care to contribute to achieving the government's goal announced last May of attracting 700,000 foreign patients by 2027."
