According to the police on the 5th, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on suspicion of murder.

Mr. A is suspected of killing his wife, Mrs. B, by striking her with a blunt weapon at around 7:50 p.m. on the 3rd at a residential-commercial complex apartment in Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is understood that Mr. A himself reported to the fire department immediately after the crime that his wife had suffered a head injury. Mrs. B received emergency treatment from the responding firefighters and was transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately died.

The police urgently arrested Mr. A at his home at around 9:30 p.m. on the same day. The couple had been experiencing domestic conflicts due to financial issues and personality differences, and it is understood that they argued about related matters on the day of the incident as well.

The police received a preliminary verbal opinion through a postmortem examination request to the National Forensic Service stating that "cervical compression asphyxia and hypovolemic shock are concurrent." Accordingly, there is a possibility that Mr. A strangled the victim's neck.

A police official said, "We plan to determine the cause of death based on the final toxicology test results and other investigative matters."
