Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is conducting safety inspections targeting elderly medical welfare facilities and day and night care centers within the district to prevent disasters such as fires during the winter season.
According to Nam-gu on the 5th, safety inspections of elderly medical welfare facilities and day and night care centers for the winter season will be carried out until January 19 of next year.
The inspection will proceed in stages: self-inspection by the facility management entity, on-site inspection by district office staff, and a public-private joint inspection involving the government, local authorities, and experts.
The inspection areas include establishing safety management plans and safety manager training according to the safety checklist, subscription to liability insurance, fire, electrical, and gas safety management, winter disaster response measures, facility safety management, meal hygiene safety management, and infectious disease control measures.
Nam-gu first instructed the facility managers of 13 elderly medical welfare facilities and 21 day and night care centers within the district to conduct self-inspections by December 19 and report the inspection results through the Hope Connection System.
Based on these results, from December 20 to January 19 of next year, Nam-gu plans to conduct on-site inspections by randomly sampling 15% of the facilities subject to self-inspection, including 2 elderly medical welfare facilities and 3 day and night care centers by type.
Additionally, during the same period, a public-private joint inspection will be conducted targeting facilities over 20 years old, residential facilities with more than 50 occupants, and facilities requiring re-inspection based on summer safety inspection results.
A Nam-gu official stated, "If facility improvements or renovations are necessary, we will require the managers to take appropriate measures and also review whether there are areas where support is possible through function reinforcement projects. We will conduct thorough inspections to ensure the safety of facility users and workers."
