Support for Foreign Currency Interest, Squid Fishing Expenses, Fishermen Direct Payments, and Fuel Costs
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will provide a total of 1.574 billion KRW in support to 1,203 fishermen facing difficulties in fishery management due to external factors such as high inflation, reduced consumption, and increased fuel costs. The support covers four projects: interest on fishing funds, squid fishing operation expenses, direct payments to fishermen, and fuel costs for fishing.
The fishing fund interest support project will provide a total of 204 million KRW, equivalent to 30% interest, to 380 local fishermen who have taken out loans to manage their fisheries. The squid fishing operation expense support project will provide a total of 49 million KRW to 19 fishing vessels that comply with the total allowable catch.
Additionally, the direct payment project will provide a total of 382 million KRW, with 1.2 million KRW annually each to 239 small-scale fishing households under 5 tons and 83 coastal fishing crew members. A total of 419 million KRW will be provided to 11 fishing vessels that comply with the total allowable catch.
Finally, the fuel cost support project for fishing will provide up to 980,000 KRW for vessels under 10 tons and up to 1.5 million KRW for vessels over 10 tons, supporting a total of 471 vessels with 520 million KRW.
For detailed information on each project, inquiries can be made through the Marine and Fisheries Division of Yeongdeok-gun Office or checked on the announcement and notice section of the Yeongdeok-gun Office website.
Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “We will make every effort to create an environment where fishermen, who support the region’s basic industries, can worry less and focus on their main work, thereby revitalizing fishing villages and strengthening the local economy.”
