Jeongeup-si Supports Young Farmers' Local Settlement... Up to 1.1 Million KRW

Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do is providing settlement support funds and offering low-interest policy loans to discover promising young farmers who will lead agricultural development and nurture them into elite agricultural personnel.

According to the city on the 5th, the Young Successor Farmer Settlement Support Project is designed to help young farmers with unstable income in the early stages of farming to settle early in the agricultural sector. The project selects young and talented individuals interested in agriculture and provides them with initial settlement support funds, education, consulting, and successor farmer policy funds.

Eligibility for application is from 18 years old to under 40 years old (born between January 1, 1984, and December 31, 2006), with less than 3 years of independent farming experience or those planning to manage independently.

Applications can only be submitted online through the Agricultural Project Information System.

If selected as a young successor farmer, settlement support funds ranging from 900,000 KRW to 1,100,000 KRW per month will be provided for up to 3 years, depending on farming experience.

Additionally, up to 500 million KRW in successor farmer policy funds can be supported for land purchase, facility installation, and agricultural machinery purchase, with an annual interest rate of 1.5%, a 5-year grace period, and a 20-year repayment term.

The Agricultural Technology Center will hold the “2024 Young Farmer Settlement Support Project Briefing Session” on the 11th to ensure a proper understanding of the project and smooth progress of the application and reception process.

Especially, young farmers wishing to return to farming or relocate to Jeongeup can receive assistance with project guidelines and demonstrations on writing project plans to help with their applications.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “This briefing session will greatly help prospective young farmers resolve their questions when preparing to apply for the support project and develop their capabilities by writing project plans themselves. We will spare no support in attracting young farmers to Jeongeup.”
