Electricity Bill Payment Period Selection Within 2 to 6 Months for December to February
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 5th that it will implement an electricity bill installment payment system for about 6.85 million customers, including small business owners and root industry companies, during the winter season to reduce the energy cost burden on the public.
Following the installment payment system implemented during the summer season (June to September) this year, KEPCO will also apply the installment payment system for electricity bills over three months from December this year to February next year, targeting small business owners who are greatly affected by the economy and root industry companies, most of which are micro and small enterprises.
As with the summer season, all individual customers within collective buildings who pay electricity bills included in management fees without a direct contract with KEPCO can participate.
The application methods and conditions are the same as in the summer season. Customers who have a direct electricity usage contract with KEPCO can apply directly through the internet or mobile app 'KEPCO:ON,' and individual customers within collective buildings who pay electricity bills included in management fees can apply through the management office.
However, there must be no outstanding unpaid bills at the time of application, and applications may be restricted during certain administrative processing periods, such as three days before and three days after the due date. Monthly applications are required for monthly installment application.
Small business owners and root industry companies with contracted power exceeding 20 kW (or electricity bills exceeding 350,000 KRW included in management fees in collective shopping malls) must obtain and submit certificates from the Small and Medium Business Status Information System and the National Root Industry Promotion Center, respectively, to KEPCO for eligibility verification. Customers who applied during the summer season do not need to submit documents again.
When applying for the electricity bill installment payment, customers must pay 50% of the billed electricity fee for the application month, and the remaining payment period can be selected by the customer within a range of 2 to 6 months considering their situation. However, for individual customers within collective buildings, the installment period is fixed at 6 months to reduce the workload of the management office.
