Fashion Group Hyungji announced on the 5th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Deshang Group, the largest local apparel export company headquartered in Weihai, China, to jointly develop the apparel market and cooperate in production.

Deshang Group is a textile and fashion company with over 400 overseas clients through textile exports and apparel OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) businesses. It recorded annual sales of approximately 3.4 trillion KRW last year, including $1.5 billion in exports.

Weihai, where Deshang Group is located, is a port city on the Shandong Peninsula and is also close to Songdo, where Hyungji’s headquarters are located. Last year, Hyungji built the Hyungji Global Fashion Complex Center in Songdo and relocated its headquarters there. Through close cooperation with Deshang Group, which is geographically nearby, Hyungji plans to utilize Songdo as a global forward base to expand further into overseas markets.

With this MOU with Deshang Group, Fashion Group Hyungji has established a new foothold to expand its presence in the Chinese market. It is expected that the position of Fashion Group Hyungji in China will be further strengthened, as its affiliate Hyungji Elite has been entering the local school uniform market since 2016 and has continued to grow annually.

The MOU between Fashion Group Hyungji and Deshang Group promises continuous cooperation in product development and market expansion. It mainly focuses on sharing information about the apparel industries of both countries and jointly developing the apparel market. Additionally, they plan to contribute to the textile and fashion industries of both countries through cooperation in apparel OEM and ODM production as well as capital collaboration. Following this MOU, exchanges between companies and institutions and marketing cooperation will also be promoted.

Choi Jun-ho, Vice Chairman of Fashion Group Hyungji, stated, “Through this agreement, we plan to expand production and sales locally in Weihai, as well as promote B2B and online collaboration. We will continue to accelerate the realization of Global Hyungji through cooperation with competitive overseas companies.”
