On the 4th, the bodies of crew members and parts of the aircraft of a US military Osprey transport plane that crashed into the sea southwest of Japan last month on the 29th were found.

According to major foreign media, the US Air Force announced that on this day, American and Japanese divers discovered the bodies of crew members and the wreckage of the Osprey that crashed into the sea near Yakushima, north of Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu.

The US military is recovering the bodies, but the identities have not yet been confirmed.

Immediately after the accident, one crew member was found dead, and seven were missing.

Japan's Kyodo News reported that divers found five bodies presumed to be crew members on this day.

After the accident, the US military deployed the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson to search for the crew and the aircraft.

Japan also deployed Japan Coast Guard patrol vessels, Self-Defense Force escort ships, and minesweepers, with both countries conducting large-scale search operations.

The crashed US military Osprey had departed from Iwakuni Base in Yamaguchi Prefecture, western Honshu, and was flying to Kadena Base in Okinawa Prefecture.
