The event proceeded with the campaign launch declaration, delivery of hope messages, 2023 fund distribution ceremony, first donation, and unveiling of the Love Thermometer.

"Let's Help Neighbors in Need!" ... Launch of Gyeongbuk Hope Sharing Campaign Gyeongbuk Deputy Governor Kim Hak-hong is urging many people to participate in helping neighbors at the launch ceremony of the '2024 Nanum Campaign'.

Notably, the first donations on this day included participation from local institutions such as Gyeongbuk NongHyup, DGB Financial Group, and Gyeongbuk Development Corporation. Individually, Lee Jin-bok, the head of the provincial group, and children from the Gyeongbuk Daycare Center Association also participated in the campaign with their first donations.

The ‘Hope 2024 Sharing Campaign’ is conducted under the slogan “Make myself valuable through donation! Make Gyeongbuk valuable through donation,” running for 62 days from the 1st to January 31 next year, with a fundraising goal of 16.46 billion KRW.

Additionally, every time 1% of the sharing goal, equivalent to 164.6 million KRW, is raised, the happiness temperature of the Love Thermometer installed in front of the provincial government building rises by 1℃, reaching 100℃ upon achieving the target amount.

Last year’s ‘Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign’ raised about 17.5 billion KRW, exceeding the target of 15.2 billion KRW by 115%.

In particular, Gyeongbuk ranks fourth nationwide in fundraising amounts after Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam, consistently achieving over 100% of the target amount in year-end sharing campaigns every year.

The coin fundraising project by children from Gyeongbuk daycare centers, which started in 2014, has been carried out annually, raising over 200 million KRW to date. This effort helps neighbors in need and involves the young hands, establishing Gyeongbuk as the best sharing region nationwide.

Jeon Woo-heon, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, said, “Although this year is also difficult and challenging, we ask for continuous interest and participation so that Gyeongbuk can be made more valuable through the valuable donations of Gyeongbuk residents.”

Kim Hak-hong, Vice Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, “Our Gyeongbuk is a patriotic region where the spirit of neighborly love and collective effort is alive. Just as we created the miracle of sharing in 2023, we ask for the interest and participation of all residents so that it continues in 2024, allowing neighbors in need to hold onto hope.”

The collected donations will be fully supported for various welfare projects aimed at reducing social inequality within Gyeongbuk Province and building local community welfare infrastructure, benefiting marginalized neighbors and welfare facilities.
