"I admit my fault and guilt..." Jeoncheongjo sends a prison letter to the media

Request to Journalists to "Come for a Visit" Too

Jeon Cheong-jo, who was known as the remarriage partner of former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee and was arrested on charges of investment fraud involving billions of won, reportedly sent a letter to the media requesting a visit.


On the 29th of last month, Channel A's 'Powerful Team 4' revealed part of the five letters sent by Jeon. In the letter, Jeon stated, "I am currently staying in a solitary confinement cell at the detention center. It is a solitary cell where video recording is conducted," and added, "I am wearing a yellow badge and am managed as a key figure, which was also reported in the media."

Jeon continued, "I have pain in the area where I had chest surgery," and said, "I requested external medical treatment, but the medical officer told me that due to causing social disturbance, it is uncertain whether I can be allowed to go out for security reasons." Jeon had previously revealed that he underwent chest removal surgery to become male.


He also said, "I admit that I did wrong and acknowledge my guilt, but it's too much..., ha..." and added, "I did commit the crime. I admit it. All of it." Jeon reportedly asked the media to come visit him. Previously, he had sent a letter from prison to the victims saying, "I would appreciate it if you could visit me once."


Meanwhile, the Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Park Myung-hee) has arrested and indicted Jeon on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, fraud under the Criminal Act, forgery of official documents, use of forged official documents, forgery of private documents, and use of forged private documents.


Jeon is accused of embezzling 3.078 billion won from 27 people he met through lectures and other means from April last year to October this year. The prosecution stated that most of the victims are acquaintances from Jeon's social networking service (SNS), parents of fencing academy students, and that over 90% are young adults in their 20s and 30s who are early in their careers.
