Boseong Deukryang, Local Organizations and Groups Share 'Love Kimchi Making'

Delivered to elderly living alone, low-income families, and senior centers

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that from the 28th to the 30th, the Deukryang-myeon Hope Dream Council (co-chairmen Lee Gwang-jae and Jeong Cheol-su) and the Deukryang-myeon Women’s Volunteer Association (President Kim Bok-sun) carried out the ‘Love Kimchi Sharing Event’ to help vulnerable groups have a warm winter.

About 30 members of the council and volunteer association, along with employees from Boseong Hydroelectric Power Plant, participated in the kimchi-making event. Over the course of three days, they sequentially carried out tasks such as salting napa cabbages, preparing seasonings, and making kimchi, producing approximately 500 heads of kimchi.

The kimchi made that day was delivered to places in need of winter food support, including elderly living alone, low-income households (150 households), and senior centers in each village (50 locations).

Kim Bok-sun, president of the Deukryang-myeon Women’s Volunteer Association, said, “I am grateful to everyone who participated in the volunteer activities despite the cold weather,” and added, “I hope the kimchi will be delivered like a gift to neighbors in need.”

Kim Jae-soon, director of Boseong Hydroelectric Power Plant, said, “We will continue to carry out such meaningful activities so that neighbors in need can spend a warmer winter.”

Lee Gwang-jae, head of Deukryang-myeon, said, “I thank the volunteers and various organizations who practice neighborly love through sharing every year,” and added, “We will strive even more to make Deukryang-myeon a happy place for everyone without blind spots.”

Meanwhile, Boseong Hydroelectric Power Plant annually supports 4 million won for kimchi-making expenses to the Women’s Volunteer Association for marginalized groups in the village.
