Renault Korea to Equip Tmap in New Aurora Project Vehicle

Renault Korea Motors will equip the new hybrid mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) scheduled for release next year with Tmap Infotainment. Renault Korea and Tmap Mobility have set a goal to strengthen their collaboration on future vehicle infotainment and provide a differentiated customer experience.


On the 29th, Renault Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tmap Mobility at Renault Korea's Seoul office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, promising future infotainment cooperation. Through this MOU, Renault Korea and Tmap Mobility will regularly share their infotainment service roadmap and actively respond to service changes demanded by the automotive market.


Renault Korea will install Tmap Infotainment in the Aurora Project new vehicle, a hybrid mid-size SUV planned for release next year. Both companies will strengthen cooperation in developing and applying third-party apps and new content.

Tmap Infotainment is a future car-type integrated in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system that provides vehicle Tmap navigation as well as ▲personalized recommendation services ▲traffic light linkage services ▲vehicle voice recognition NUGU Auto ▲Tmap Store ▲in-vehicle easy payment ▲electric vehicle specialized services, among others.


Stefan de Vleeschauwer, CEO of Renault Korea, said, "This MOU will further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Renault Korea and Tmap Mobility for future infotainment and connectivity roadmaps," adding, "We hope to jointly lead connectivity technology in the domestic automotive market."


Lee Jong-ho, CEO of Tmap Mobility, also said, "By combining the strengths of Renault vehicles and the unique features of Tmap Mobility's infotainment, we will create synergy and lead innovation in the future mobility market."


Meanwhile, Renault Korea and Tmap Mobility have a long-standing relationship. Renault installed the telematics system jointly developed with SK Telecom, the parent company of Tmap Mobility, in the SM series in 2003. Since 2012, Renault Korea has equipped all its vehicles with SK Telecom's Tmap Navi, and in 2015, they jointly introduced the world's first in-vehicle tablet navigation system, 'T2C (Tablet to Car).'
