Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Instagram Wins Grand Prize for 'SNS of the Year'

Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju (District Mayor Park Byung-gyu) received the Grand Prize in the Instagram category at the 9th 2023 SNS of the Year Awards for basic local governments.

The district's SNS network has recorded its best year with a "three consecutive wins" in major evaluations throughout this year.

Hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the SNS of the Year Awards comprehensively evaluate the operation status of social media networks of corporations, public institutions, and local governments to select outstanding organizations, making it the most prestigious award in the domestic social media field.

With this award, the district has swept three major awards including the Grand Prize at the 13th Korea SNS Awards, the Grand Prize at the 2023 Social Eye Awards, and the most prestigious SNS of the Year Award, solidifying its position as the top local government in social media utilization nationwide.

The district's Instagram, selected for the SNS of the Year Grand Prize, was highly praised as a channel that breaks away from rigid information delivery by producing and promoting distinctive and differentiated content about the district’s major news and policies.

In particular, it has established itself as a ‘hot place’ for photos and videos by providing information related to the district in line with the latest trends.

Videos such as the public contest video containing the slogan of the 8th elected district administration, the barefoot trail "Slickback," and the "Flower Challenge" video each recorded over 50,000 views per single video.

The district operates six social media channels including blogs, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, delivering detailed news about local attractions, welfare and education programs, and various events and festivals.

Through various citizen participation events and the operation of the "SNS Promotion Partner," the district actively utilizes social media as a communication channel that approaches citizens closely.
