Ransomware Attack Causes Damage
Store Operations Disrupted, Product Delivery Delayed
Apology for Operational Issues, Warning Against Impersonation Messages
The official website and app of Golfzon, the number one screen golf company in Korea, have been down for five consecutive days.
The network is paralyzed due to a ransomware attack. This is the first system failure in four years since 2019. Golfzon has been undergoing emergency inspections since the 23rd and has been unavailable for five days. When attempting to access the online service, the message "Service is currently under maintenance" is displayed. The Golfzon Market customer center plays a recorded message stating, "Due to a system failure, it is difficult to connect to the customer center, please contact us again."
The Golfzon website and app are down due to a ransomware attack. When attempting to access, the screen displays the message "Service is currently under maintenance."
On the 25th, Golfzon apologized for the service disruption through an official statement. Golfzon explained, "Currently, Golfzon is experiencing difficulties in normal operation of the Golfzon website, app, and store operation sites due to server disk damage caused by ransomware." They added, "We will do our best to sequentially restore all services to normal," and bowed their heads, saying, "We sincerely apologize to our customers and store owners who are facing difficulties in store operations."
Due to Golfzon's system failure, franchise owners are facing disruptions in their business. They check customer reservations through the Golfzon network, but with the server down, they cannot immediately know who reserved and when. Customers find golf reservations more cumbersome, resorting to calling directly to check store congestion. Golfzon Market is also unable to ship products, leaving consumers waiting indefinitely.
However, Golfzon drew a clear line, stating that there has been no leakage of members' personal information. Golfzon said, "Currently, text messages impersonating Golfzon are being sent to an unspecified number of people exploiting this situation," and added, "Golfzon does not send such messages, and customers who receive such messages are asked to mark the number as spam to prevent damage." According to the impersonation message examples disclosed by Golfzon, customers are being deceived with messages like, "As a token of apology, we will give you a gift, so customers who wish to receive the gift should reply with 'receive'."
