Husband Who Grabbed and Shook Wife's Hair Fined 500,000 Won

A woman in her 30s who, angered by her mother-in-law's scolding, struck her husband's forehead with a beer glass and threw a beer bottle at her mother-in-law was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

On the 25th, Judge Park Seong-min of the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 3 sentenced A (32), who was indicted on charges of special injury and special assault on a family member causing injury, to one year in prison with a two-year suspension and ordered 80 hours of community service.

B, the husband of the same age who was charged with assault for grabbing and shaking A's hair in anger over her actions, was fined 500,000 won.

It was investigated that A committed the crime under the influence of alcohol after being scolded by her mother-in-law to "take good care of the child" and hearing her husband say "let's go home."

Husband B was also tried on charges of assault for grabbing and shaking A's hair in anger over her actions.

In October last year, while drinking at a pub in Chuncheon City with her mother-in-law (68) and husband, A struck her husband's forehead with a glass beer cup and threw a beer bottle at her mother-in-law.

Both sustained injuries requiring about two weeks of treatment, and A was brought to trial on charges of special injury and special assault on a family member causing injury.

Judge Park said of A, "Considering the behavior and danger, the nature of the crime is very bad," and sentenced her to a prison term with suspension because "she denies the crime and does not show remorse."

Regarding B, he explained the sentencing by saying, "Considering that he has no prior similar offenses, there are circumstances to take into account in part of the crime's circumstances, and the degree of assault was relatively minor."
