Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom Explores Baseball Stadium and Park Golf Course Infrastructure
Seeking Strategies to Build a 'Converged Cultural City Enjoyed by Everyone'
Kim Doo-gyeom, mayor of Ulsan City, leading the overseas delegation, embarked on a business trip to Japan and on the 25th benchmarked advanced sports and cultural facilities in Fukuoka.
On this day, Mayor Kim held a Korea-Japan exchange and cooperation meeting with Kiyoshi Ejima, a member of the House of Councillors of Japan, as the first schedule.
He then visited the SoftBank home stadium in Fukuoka, the "PayPay Dome baseball stadium," and the municipal park golf course, "Tsukiguma Park Golf Course."
The Fukuoka Dome, opened in 1993 as Asia's first retractable dome stadium, is characterized by having foreigner-only seats and interpreters in the outfield. Also, Tsukiguma Park Golf Course is a park golf course operated directly by Fukuoka City, a leisure facility in the city center covering 20,000㎡ with 18 holes.
On the second day, the 26th, he visited Shimonoseki City to tour marine tourism facilities and sports infrastructure and paid a courtesy visit to the mayor of Shimonoseki City.
He then toured various marine tourism facilities in the port city of Shimonoseki, such as the aquarium and the Kanmon Yume Tower, and visited Shimonoseki Sports Park, which has various sports facilities including the Obizen Stadium baseball field, to inspect community sports programs. During the meeting with the mayor of Shimonoseki, plans were made to promote exchanges and friendly cooperation in various fields such as culture, tourism, and sports in the future.
Kim Doo-gyeom, mayor of Ulsan City, said, "Culture, tourism, and sports are not separate facilities but will have a synergistic effect when organically composed and operated," adding, "We will organically integrate these fields to newly establish the image of Ulsan as a cultural city."
