Seongbuk-gu Shares Warm Neighborly Love with Kimchi-Making for Love Event

The 2023 Love Kimchi Sharing Event, organized by the Seongbuk District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society (President Park Seonnyeo) in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro), was held on the 23rd at the Korean Red Cross Northern Volunteer Center Seongbuk Sharing Place.

As part of the Seongbuk-gu Women's Organization Support Project, about 50 participants, including Red Cross members, members of the Korea University Global Leader Alumni Association (President Jang Seong-hoon), who donated 5 million won for this kimchi sharing event, and Dongdaemun Seongbuk Support Members, devoted their efforts for local neighbors. The kimchi made that day was delivered to 310 vulnerable households, including low-income families.

Park Seonnyeo, president of the Seongbuk District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, who organized the event, said, “We gathered a small amount of sincerity for neighbors who are having a harder time during the cold winter. Thinking about them enjoying it deliciously with rice made the preparation joyful and fulfilling. I hope today's sharing volunteer work will be of some help to our neighbors.”

Lee Seung-ro, mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “As winter approaches, kimchi sharing volunteer activities wishing for a warm winter for neighbors in need continue throughout the region. Even in difficult and challenging times, it is because of you who practice sharing and love so that local neighbors are not left out that we can realize a happier Seongbuk together.”

He added, “In the future, together with the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, who devotedly work for sharing and volunteering for neighbors, we will create a better neighborhood and a warm Seongbuk full of happy smiles even in the cold winter.”
