New Supogyo Bridge Connecting Dunjun-ri and Yurim-dong in Yongin Fully Opens on the 24th

Replacing 46-Year-Old Old Bridge... Equipped with 4-Lane Two-Way Road + Pedestrian Path
Expecting to Resolve Chronic Congestion Around Dunjeon Station and Revitalize Commercial Area

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it has completed a new Supogyo Bridge crossing the Gyeongan Stream, connecting Dunjeon-ri in Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, and Yurim-dong, and will fully open it on the 24th.

The newly opened Supogyo Bridge replaces the old bridge built 46 years ago. It is a four-lane bridge with a length of 96 meters and a width of 24.5 meters, including pedestrian walkways.

The existing Supogyo Bridge, installed in 1977, had deteriorated in durability and was classified as a disaster-risk bridge (Grade C). Additionally, it had only two lanes with no sidewalks, posing a high risk of pedestrian accidents. Especially, with large-scale housing complexes rapidly developing in the area and the Everline Dunjeon Station located right in front, chronic traffic congestion occurred during rush hours.

Accordingly, the city started construction in 2021 with a project cost of 16 billion KRW to demolish the old bridge and build a new one, and after two years and three months, it is now fully open.

The city explained that before the full opening of the new bridge, the location of the roundabout, which was installed according to the old bridge, was relocated and its height was adjusted to match the new bridge.

A Yongin City official said, "We will continue to safely manage bridges within the jurisdiction so that citizens can use them safely."

Earlier, to minimize inconvenience to citizens due to the bridge construction, the city temporarily opened and operated two lanes of the new bridge in the Pogok-eup direction starting from March.
