Finance Ministry Reviews Kimjang Prices... "Costs Down 11%... Supply Measures on Track"

On the 23rd, the Ministry of Economy and Finance inspected the supply and price trends of major agricultural and marine products, as well as the preparation status of the online agricultural wholesale market, at the Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The government announced that the prices of key kimchi-making ingredients, such as napa cabbage, have dropped significantly due to the implementation of kimchi supply measures. According to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), as of this day, the cost of making kimchi is 191,000 won, which is 11.7% lower compared to mid-November last year.

Hong Du-seon, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, who conducted the on-site inspection, emphasized, “We will carry out the supply stabilization measures, including the supply of controlled shipment facility quantities and discounted delivery prices, without any disruption during the kimchi-making period.”
