Cellist involved in 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party suspicion' sues YouTuber for 500 million won over personal information disclosure

Cellist A, who was at the center of the so-called 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party suspicion,' has filed a lawsuit for damages against a YouTuber who revealed her personal information.

According to the legal community on the 23rd, A filed a complaint demanding 500 million won in damages against YouTuber B through lawyer Lee Je-il of the law firm Sarambup on the morning of the previous day at the Seoul Eastern District Court.

The complaint stated, "On November 23 of last year, A testified to the police that she lied to deceive her ex-boyfriend, revealing that the Cheongdam-dong drinking party suspicion was false," and "From December 10 of the same year, B repeatedly broadcast A's name, face, resident registration number, female clinic medical records, past lawsuit records, and other personal information on YouTube." A's side also claimed, "A, who has never had a sexually transmitted disease, was falsely portrayed as having one and being sexually promiscuous, which is a highly humiliating falsehood, constituting defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act."

The Cheongdam-dong drinking party suspicion was raised by Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, during the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee’s audit on October 24 last year. During this process, a phone recording was released, which was a conversation between A and the informant. Earlier, the police decided not to prosecute on the 24th of last month, stating that A’s criminal charges were not recognized.
